Lianne
McLean
MB BCh BAO, MHI, FRCPC
Lianne is the Director of the IDEAS program at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, Canada. She is a paediatric emergency medicine specialist, and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. She completed a Master’s in Health Informatics through the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto, and was previously the Director of the Point-of-care Ultrasound (POCUS) program in the Division of Emergency Medicine at SickKids. Her research interests include technology integration and evaluation, POCUS AI development, and quality improvement studies on clinical and educational impacts of POCUS.

Daniel Rosenfield

Daniel Rosenfield is a paediatric emergency medicine specialist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. After completing his undergraduate degree at McMaster University, he completed his medical, paediatric and paediatric emergency medicine training at the University of Toronto. After additional training in trauma and injury prevention, he went on to obtain a Masters in Health Informatics through the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He is currently the site director for the Canadian Hospitals Injury Reporting and Prevention (CHIRPP) program, and maintains active research and quality improvement projects looking at paediatric trauma and injuries. In the informatics space, he is the lead for virtual urgent care in the emergency department, and co-lead for virtual care operations across SickKids.

Gabrielle Freire
MDCM, MHSc, FRCPC
Dr. Gabrielle Freire is a pediatric emergency physician at The Hospital for Sick Children and an Associate-Scientist Track Investigator at the Peter Gilgan Center for Research and Learning. She holds an assistant-professor position within the Department of Pediatrics and Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Freire completed her medical degree at McGill University, a Masters in Translational Research at the University of Toronto, and a Graduate Diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from McMaster University. Her CIHR-funded research program is focused on improving Canadian pediatric injury care using principles of implementation science and knowledge translation.

Sasha Litwin

Sasha Litwin is healthcare design consultant, educator and researcher. She is a paediatric emergency medicine specialist at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and an Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. After her medical training and emergency medicine fellowship, Sasha completed an additional fellowship in Healthcare Design and Innovation at SickKids and a Masters in Design for Health at Ontario College of Art and Design University. Her research focuses on the use of design methodology to explore insights and generate novel solutions to healthcare challenges. Currently, Sasha is the physician lead for patient experience in the emergency department and lead for healthcare design across the hospital. She loves thinking of new IDEAS!

Iwona Baran
MD, B.Sc., MScCH, FRCPC
Dr. Iwona Baran is a Paediatric Emergency Medicine physician who joined The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in September 2014. She has been actively involved in health-care education, acting as the Program Director for the Paediatric Emergency Medicine training program at SickKids since 2015. Baran completed the Education Scholars Program at the Centre for Faculty Development and a Masters in Community Healthy – Health Practitioner Education at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She is involved in curriculum design and evaluation, course development, and faculty development.

Amy Zipursky
MD, MBI
Amy’s research is focused on how machine learning and artificial intelligence can be applied to increase the efficiency and quality of care in pediatric emergency medicine. Amy completed her pediatric residency and pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at SickKids and the University of Toronto. She completed a Master of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Computational Health Informatics Program at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Devin singh

Dr. Devin Singh is one of Canada’s first physicians to specialize in clinical artificial intelligence. He is an emergency physician at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and holds a Masters in Computer Science degree from the University of Toronto. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto in both the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the Division of Computer Science and is an emerging scholar helping to innovate the regulatory, privacy, and ethical landscape for AI in Canada and beyond. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Hero AI, a healthcare technology company dedicated to empowering patients and providers with AI.

Greg Harvey
MD, FRCPC (Paediatrics, PEM)
Dr. Greg Harvey is a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physician at the Hospital for Sick Children and Epic Physician Lead for the department. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. Dr. Harvey has been certified in multiple Epic Physician Builder courses (Basic, Advanced, Analytics) and has considerable experience building Epic end user content for various quality improvement and research initiatives. He is interested in the integration and optimization of current and emerging technologies to improve paediatric care. When he isn’t focused on all the problems of the Epic build and venting those frustrations through actual clinical care, he’s happily home practicing photography on his favourite subject, his kids.

Mireille Gharib

Dr. Mireille Gharib is a Paediatric Emergency Medicine Physican at the Hospital for Sick Children. She obtained her Medical Degree from the University of Ottawa and her Paediatric speciality and Paediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship from the University of Western Ontario. Her Medical Simulation fellowship was obtained through the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children. She has obtained her Masters in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research through the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation program at the University of Toronto. She is the translational safety/simulation lead for the division of Emergency Medicine at Sick Kids. Her training and academic expertise include simulation and patient safety using human factors.
